Have you heard the next scene?
“It seems that, compared to others, I do not speak any language or at least speak it badly.” Or even worse, we say, “I am not able” … “how hard” … “I cannot” … “that does not fit me” … You are in good company of a few million people in this world.
Moreover, what would you say if I told you that mathematics is more a “language”?
What happens is that we have “always” assumed that the sciences are vital to our lives, and without it we would not survive in the world (labor.) However, what if you say that mathematics, geometry, chemistry and other sciences do not come to me even with a hammer? It was, and still is, a language which I find it difficult to comprehend, but I get it if make an effort. Not that I do not want to, and the cause is far from being lazy. Equations (sentences of a language) and their parameters (words) are simply alien to my brain structure, and sound to me like “Chinese” . That translates to : my knowledge of “grammar and vocabulary of science” are scarce.
Why we are in such a situation? The reasons are many, including the lack of practice . As few people speak a foreign language in their own country more than his native language, few people speak “math” all day. The solution is to take into account the importance of languages and then take good teaching crowned with practice, practice , practice … (audio, video , reading, writing, etc.)
